Eurotrip Day 2

After the morning briefing from our professor, those of us who had interviews scheduled went off to do work while the rest of us took the free time we had and went sightseeing. I joined a party of six or so (Jay, Jason, Eugene, Kit, Sean, Ben...) to explore Central Brussels and see Grand Place, eat some frites and waffles, check out some sneaker boutiques, and just doing touristy things in general. Realised how unenriched my previous post was, just a series of photos with little to no captions, so I shall attempt to furnish this one more. It just gets tiring when you have a short attention span and are terribly distracted.

We were very fortunate to have had splendid weather that day. The sky wasn't cloudless but the sun rays glistened on the gold gilded edges of the intricate carvings on those preserved buildings that formed the perimeter of the main square. There were no throngs of tourists so it was pleasant and spacious. I took my time in getting as many shots as I could that would capture the grandeur of the area (which I gradually got used to over the next four or five times coming here). Not forgetting some gratuitous full-body shots.

That hair color lol.
These photos do not do enough justice!
Where we went for waffles! Tad more expensive but the quality is there. For some reason, dining-in was like 40c more expensive than take-away...
On the left, we have the Liege waffles. Right, Brussels waffles. Liege is more soft, chewy, and sweetened. Brussels is crispy, less doughy, and lighter on the carbs (I feel).
Liege waffles going for way cheaper here. If I recall correctly, they were around 1,80 euros for a plain, and you just add more as you choose toppings. I had a caramel syrup drizzled over and it was 2,50 euros. I'd suggest the chocolate or simple sugar frosting if you don't want to go all-out on the fruits and all. Caramel was way too much.
First meal of frites and kebab. Shared this platter among three (2 guys 1 girl). Was filling enough! Maybe around 5 euros per person?
Of course, Belgium is known for its wide selection of craft beers so we HAD to get us some cheap beers. (Yes, we went to Delirium. More on that in a later post.)
After roaming a bit more, walking into chocolatiers and galleries, it was time to return to the hostel to regroup, get changed, and head for our reception at the Singapore embassy. Now, let me dig for that group picture in which we all looked super smart...
