On the second day of our Kansai trip, Klins and I went to Nara, Uji, then Kyoto and Fushimi Inari at night for the special illumination. I was really glad we planned this day so well because it was a fruitful itinerary. Along with Klins hunting his Pokemon, I got to dodge deer attacks after luring a herd near me using the then-acquired deer biscuits.

One of the best tonkatsu places I've eaten at in Japan. Recommended by Klins, a third/fourth-time patron. |

What Uji is known for -- Matcha. Also my love of all time. |

JR Kyoto Station! Less crowded than any of the major stations in Tokyo but still pleasant. |

Delicious, up-sized to Medium, Salmon Roe Cream Sauce Pasta. YUMMEH. Had dinner with Dru who did her exchange at Doshisha University in Kyoto. |

I'm missing Japan more than I thought I would, but thankful for all these pictures that 'past' me captured for memory's sake. Well done, me. Fushimi was very crowded and there were plenty of mosquitoes but the view of the city lights from above and the experience of walking through an area lit mostly only by lanterns was breathtaking. Doesn't hurt that this was an 'exercise' for the Mt Fuji climb too, which I'll write about after I finish my other travel logs in chronological order.
